Welcome to Admizion      #1 Your Gateway to Global Education – Apply, Study, Succeed!

The wait is finally over. On February 8, 2026, the National Testing Agency (NTA) officially pulled the curtain back, releasing the NEET UG 2026 registration forms. For lakhs of students across India—and specifically for our hardworking aspirants right here in Chandigarh—this marks the true beginning of the journey toward that white coat.

But here’s the reality check: while you’ve spent months mastering the Krebs cycle and solving complex Physics numericals, a single “click” on the wrong button during registration can jeopardize your entire year. At Admizion, we see it every year—brilliant students panicking because of a silly form error.

To make sure your journey is smooth, we’ve put together a list of the 7 most critical mistakes you must avoid before the March 8 deadline.

1. The “Old Photo” Trap (New Live Capture Rule!)

For 2026, the NTA has introduced a major change: Live Photo Capture. Gone are the days when you could just upload a touched-up studio photo from two years ago.

  • The Mistake: Trying to bypass the live webcam/phone capture or using a photo where your face is covered by glasses, caps, or heavy shadows.
  • The Fix: Ensure you are in a well-lit room with a plain white background. Your face must occupy 80% of the frame, and your ears must be clearly visible. If your live photo doesn’t match your Aadhaar photo, the system might flag an error.

2. Aadhaar & Mobile Number Mismatch

This year, Aadhaar-based eKYC is mandatory. This is a security measure to prevent impersonation, but it’s causing a lot of “mismatch” errors.

  • The Mistake: Using a mobile number that isn’t linked to your Aadhaar card. If the OTP goes to an old, inactive number, you can’t even complete the first step of registration.
  • The Fix: Before you sit down to apply, verify which number is linked to your Aadhaar. If it’s your father’s or an old number, keep that phone handy for the OTP.

3. Choosing the Wrong “Qualifying Code”

Code 01? Code 02? Code 07? This is arguably the most confusing part of the NEET form.

  • The Mistake: A Class 12 “Appearing” student selecting Code 02 (which is for those who have already passed) or a dropper picking the wrong code for their previous qualification.
  • The Fix: If you are currently in Class 12, your code is generally 01. If you have passed and are on a gap year, it’s usually
    02. Using the wrong code can lead to issues during NEET 2026 counselling for MBBS, where your documents are strictly verified.

4. The Category & Domicile Blunder

This is a high-stakes mistake. Your category (General, EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST) determines your cut-off and seat availability.

  • The Mistake: Selecting a category like OBC-NCL or EWS without having a valid, updated certificate issued after April 1, 2025. Or, worse, filling in the wrong state of domicile.
  • The Fix: Your domicile is usually where you completed your schooling or where your parents reside (depending on state rules). If you’re looking for the Best Career Counselling in Chandigarh, our experts at Admizion can help you figure out which state quota gives you the best advantage.

5. Ignoring the “Medium of Question Paper”

  • The Mistake: Casually selecting a regional language or English without realizing that this choice is permanent.
  • The Fix: Think about the language you’ve used for your mock tests. If you select English, you get the paper in English. If you select Hindi or a regional language, you usually get a bilingual paper (English + selected language). Choose what makes you most comfortable under exam pressure.

6. Waiting Until March 8th

  • The Mistake: Treating the deadline like a challenge. Every year, the NTA server slows down significantly in the last 48 hours due to massive traffic.
  • The Fix: Aim to finish your registration by February 25th. This gives you enough time to handle any payment failures or technical glitches without losing your sleep.

7. Not Saving the “Confirmation Page”

  • The Mistake: Thinking that a “Success” message on the screen is enough.
  • The Fix: You must download and print the Confirmation Page. This document, along with your fee receipt, is required during the admission process months later. Store a digital copy in your Google Drive or email it to yourself.

Why Small Details Matter

NEET is not just a test of biology and physics; it’s a test of your attention to detail. A mismatch in your name (even a single spelling difference from your Class 10 marksheet) can lead to your application being stalled.

As a premier MBBS Consultant in Chandigarh, we believe that no student should lose their seat because of a clerical error. The journey from “Aspirant” to “Doctor” is long enough—don’t let the registration form be a hurdle you trip over.

Important Dates to Remember:

  • Registration Window: Feb 8 to March 8, 2026
  • Correction Window: March 10 to March 12, 2026
  • Exam Date: May 3, 2026
