Welcome to Admizion      #1 Your Gateway to Global Education – Apply, Study, Succeed!

The 400–500 marks range in NEET is perhaps the most stressful “no man’s land.” You aren’t comfortably safe for a top government seat, but you aren’t out of the race either.

In this zone, your Strategy matters more than your Score. Here is how you should navigate your counselling:

1. Understand the “Borderline” Reality

At 400-500 marks, you are a borderline candidate. This means a standard application won’t work for you. You need a surgical approach to your choice filling.

  • The Goal: To secure a seat in the later rounds where seat vacancy increases.

2. Play Heavily on State Quota

While the All India Quota (AIQ) is extremely competitive, your State Domicile is your best bet.

  • Research: Analyze the closing ranks of your state’s medical colleges from the last 3 years. Some states offer government seats at surprisingly lower ranks compared to the national average.

3. The Balanced Choice-Filling Strategy

Don’t just list colleges randomly. Divide your preferences into three tiers:

  • Tier 1 (Ambitious): Top-tier colleges you dream of (even if chances are slim).
  • Tier 2 (Realistic): Colleges that match your current rank based on previous trends.
  • Tier 3 (Safety Net): Newer government colleges or those in remote locations where the cutoff usually stays lower.

4. Patience Through the Rounds

Round 1 is usually just a warm-up. The real shifts happen in Round 2 and the Mop-Up/Stray Vacancy rounds.

  • Pro Tip: Many students exit the process early out of frustration. Staying in the game until the final round often rewards borderline students with unexpected seats.

5. Evaluating Private vs. Drop

If a government seat looks unlikely, ask yourself:

  • Budget: Can we afford a semi-government or low-budget private seat?
  • ROI: Is the college infrastructure good enough for the high fees?
  • Drop Year: Are you mentally prepared to go through the grind again, or is it better to pick a strong alternative like BAMS or BPT?

6. Avoid the “Direct Admission” Trap

In this score range, you will be a prime target for fake agents promising “guaranteed seats.” Remember, every legal seat in India is allotted through a transparent, centralized counselling portal.
