Welcome to Admizion #1 Your Gateway to Global Education – Apply, Study, Succeed!
Every year, thousands of students from Punjab sit for NEET UG with one dream – a government medical college seat. And every year, just as the result comes out, the real stress begins. Not the exam. The counselling.
If you’ve ever tried to figure out Punjab NEET UG Counselling on your own, you know what we mean. Multiple websites, conflicting dates, confusing domicile rules – it can feel like a maze. This guide cuts through all of that and gives you exactly what you need, in plain language.
Punjab NEET UG Counselling is the official seat allotment process for MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, and BUMS seats in government and private medical colleges across Punjab. It is conducted by the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot – the nodal authority for all health science admissions in the state.
Every eligible NEET-qualified student who wants a seat in Punjab – whether under state quota or management quota – must go through this process. There is no shortcut, and no offline backdoor.

This is where most students – and even parents – get confused. Let’s keep it simple.
To claim a seat under Punjab State Quota (85% seats), you must satisfy the domicile requirement. You qualify if:
If you do not meet the domicile criteria, you can only apply under the All India Quota (AIQ) – which is managed separately by MCC, New Delhi.
One important thing: you cannot claim domicile in two states simultaneously. If you’ve already registered for another state’s counselling under domicile, you may be disqualified from Punjab’s state pool.
Punjab has both government and private medical colleges. Here’s a general picture of how seats are distributed:
| Category | Seat Share (Approx.) |
| State Quota (85%) | Open to Punjab domicile candidates |
| All India Quota (15%) | Managed by MCC – open to all India |
| NRI / Management Quota | As per individual college norms |
| SC Reservation (within State Quota) | ~25% of state quota seats |
| BC/OBC Reservation | As per Punjab reservation policy |
| PwD Horizontal Reservation | 5% across all categories |
Exact seat matrix will be published in the BFUHS prospectus. Always refer to the official document for final numbers.
Here’s the process broken down so you know exactly what happens at each stage:
Step 1: Register Online on BFUHS Website
Go to bfuhs.ac.in and create your counselling account. Fill in your NEET roll number, personal details, and category. Pay the registration fee online.
Step 2: Upload Documents
You’ll need to upload scanned copies of your documents (list below). Make sure they are clear and within the file size limits.
Step 3: Merit List Release
BFUHS publishes a provisional merit list. Check whether your name appears and if your details are correct. Raise objections (if any) within the window.
Step 4: Choice Filling & Locking
This is the most critical step. You’ll choose colleges in your preferred order. Put your most desired college first, not the ‘safest’ one. The system allots the best available option based on your rank and preferences. Lock your choices before the deadline – no changes allowed after that.
Step 5: Seat Allotment Result
Download your allotment letter. It will mention the college, course, and reporting date.
Step 6: Report to the College
Go in person to the allotted college with originals of all documents. Pay the first-year fee. Get your admission confirmed.
Step 7: Round 2 / Mop-Up (If Applicable)
If you didn’t get a seat in Round 1, or got a seat but want to upgrade, you can participate in Round 2 and the Mop-Up round (depending on eligibility conditions for that year).
Keep physical originals and multiple self-attested copies ready:
Every year, students lose valid seats simply because of avoidable errors. Here’s what to watch out for:
If your NEET score is above 550 and you meet the domicile criteria, Punjab’s government colleges are excellent choices with very affordable fees. But if your score is in the 350–500 range, waiting through multiple counselling rounds may cost you a year.
In those situations, many students explore MBBS abroad – in countries like Russia, Philippines, Georgia, or Kazakhstan – where admission is based on NEET qualification (not rank), fees are affordable, and courses are MCI/NMC-recognised. At Admizion, we counsel students for both pathways and help them make a decision that actually suits their score, budget, and career goals – not just the one that looks good on paper.
Punjab NEET UG Counselling 2026 is a structured process, but it rewards the students who are prepared. Know your eligibility. Understand the domicile rules. Fill choices wisely. Meet every deadline.
